This was sent to me by my friend Tracy Phillips in Australia and in light of the recent events it really says alot.  It speaks to me of the tragedy in New York and the Nation's Capitol but also speaks to me of the dogs I've loved and lost.  It means many things to me; and I hope it touches you as well.

If I knew it would be the last time
that I'd see you fall asleep,
I would tuck you in more tightly
and pray your soul to keep.

If I knew it would be the last time
that I see you walk out the door,
I would give you a hug and kiss
and call you back for one or two more.

If I knew it would be the last time
I would be there to share your day,
knowing there would be no more,
I couldn't let this one just slip away.

"For surely," we say, "there's tomorrow"
to make up for an oversight,
and we always get a second chance
to make everything right.

There will always be another day to say our
"I love you's," and certainly there's another chance
to say "Is there anything I can do?"

But, just in case I might be wrong,
and today is all I get,
I'd like to say how much I love you
and I hope you will never forget that
tomorrow is not promised to anyone,
young or old alike,
and today may be the last chance
we get to hold a love one tight.

So, if you are waiting for tomorrow,
why not do it today!

For, if tomorrow never comes,
you will surely regret the day...
that day you did not take that extra time
for a big smile, a warm hug, or a kiss (and,
why not all three)

So, hold your loved ones close today,
whisper in their ear,
tell them how much you love them
and that you will always hold them dear.
Take the time to say, "I'm sorry,"
"please forgive me," "thank you" or it's okay."

And,if tomorrow never comes,
you will have no regrets.......about this day.
